Column and closing force measurement systems
for die-casting maschines
with a closing force from 20 MT to 4000 MT
(service up to 2500 MT closing force)

In response to the known problem of splashing dies and column fractures in die-casting machines, we developed a column and closing force measuring system (patent No. 3913820) to perform a targeted analysis of occurring problems in unclamped machines within thirty minutes.

In combination with an ultrasonic inspection of the machine columns, occurring defects can be clearly assigned to the machine or the die.

Process:

1000 MT

Instead of the die, a plane parallel test specimen (measuring system of Hartmann Druckgiesstechnik GmbH) with integrated pressure transducer is clamped between the machine plates.

The machine closed, occurring column forces can be exactly determined. The repeatability of this method is not reached by any other measurement process available on the market. The machine columns (die casting machine closed) is tested in its loaded state for cracks by means of an ultrasonic test starting from the front end face.

In case of non-parallel machines, appropriate settings are made on the basis of the values initially determined to yield the best possible correction. The setting time varies depending on the machine, size, manufacturer, year of manufacture, general condition, however is independent of the measurement process and/or test method employed.
